wandering San Juan

by Romualdo on 01.11.2010

My beloved Jesus ... today reviewed the photos we took yesterday in Old San Juan and I met with the homeless sleeping on a bench in the square ...

It is shocking as two very different realities coexist in the same place ... tourists with their cameras ... their designer handbags and packages ... purchase ... flock to the railing to watch the sunset ... and when night begins to fall, undertake their way back to their cruise where they will enjoy a nice dinner ... and a comfortable bed to rest ...

And while this takes place, a man sleeps on a bench in the square ... his head resting on a few belongings ... and a plastic bag next to save the rest of your life ... your tired body does not hear the cries around him ... and a mixture of resignation and misery that is difficult to describe ... it is losing hope of those who have nothing to wait ...

Lord ... we saw around us ... so many that were there ... it was as if he did not exist for the rest of the world ... and if by chance some one approached his bank ... quickly changed course to not pass him ... do not know maybe ... will be the shame of doing nothing ... or because they assume that if they close their eyes, reality disappears ... but no one even paused to see the man who was sleeping ... that is the greatest evil of our society ... indifference to the misery around them ...

We looked for a while ... we saw him sleeping and think about You ... and Yours assumed his loneliness ... You ... our God ... who became the most humble of men approach provided us ... and we did not met you ... you're still getting closer every day ... in the Eucharist ... in the sacraments ... in our suffering ... and you keep hoping we come to you and your loneliness aliviemos ... so, you can also relieve us and heal our lives ...

Forgive the sad note tonight ... but I'm not having awakened ... not having sat talking with him ... I regret not letting him into my life ... and he'll enter also let you ... so, tonight I pray that wherever you are, bless him and make him experience the embrace of love that sometimes make me feel to me ... and the tenderness of that moment, you say you are not alone ... well, you and I are thinking about him ...
